The Missing (Space 1)

Mai L. Nissen, March 2015

In this space, we live
unable to touch
or see the heart
of another.
Try to reach out
and within seconds
your body and space
they’ll incinerate.
The bubble,
in which you
existed will
evaporate;
Leaving no trace
of your existence.

The space,
confined within
the bubble,
seamlessly
merges with
outer emptiness;
As if it was never
there, a distinct
separate entity.
The space
that was you.
Only those,
who themselves
yearn
to reach beyond
their bubble,
to escape
lonely confinement
– Only they
notice the missing
