I Barely Remember Your Face

Art by Ditte Løfgren

Mai L. Nissen, 2011

I barely remember your face, the feel of your skin; so intimate with details, later to feel estranged. The sound of your voice, once sweet and safe; within an eternity’s moment, sends a chill through my body; freezes the blood in my vein, pierces my thought like an arrow, weighs down my heart as if lead. Your touch once soft, makes my body cringe, my throat enclose, my heart harden. My spirit throws up in sickness and disgust, desperate to be rid of you – Your poison still resides within You refuse to go away
